In this role, you will play a key part in modernizing the data warehouse and preparing data for AI use cases. You will lead our client's Snowflake migration and help build a scalable, cost-efficient data platform together with a small team of engineers. This includes re-architecting dbt models, defining best practices for data architecture (from staging layers to star schemas), and managing infrastructure using Terraform.
You will also contribute to orchestration development, supporting the transition between Airflow and Astronomer. A critical part of the role is enabling AI systems to effectively utilize warehouse data — designing semantic layers, evaluating suitable data patterns (such as data lakes or vector stores), and ensuring the platform evolves with the rapidly changing AI landscape.
Additionally, you will work on integration development, building custom data source integrations using Python. As a senior team member, you are expected to set technical direction, guide architectural decisions, and mentor others in the team.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience with Snowflake (platform-specific SQL, cost model, clustering)
- Solid hands-on experience with dbt, including re-architecting models
- Proven experience in data architecture and modern data warehouse design (layered approach, star schema)
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure management
- Understanding of SQL Server and data migration contexts
- Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow and/or Astronomer)
- Experience enabling data for AI use (e.g. semantic layers, data lake patterns, vector databases)
- Strong Python skills for data pipelines and integrations
- Ability to define technical direction and make architectural decisions
Nice to Have:
- Experience building custom integrations instead of relying on third-party tools
- Up-to-date knowledge of the evolving AI and data ecosystem
