As a Lead Analytics Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of reusable, high-quality data models and KPI definitions on Databricks.
This is a working lead role: you will plan and drive delivery, collaborate closely with business stakeholders, and contribute directly to hands-on development in Python and SQL.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end rebuild of ARR and Gross Margin KPIs as reusable data assets
- Design and implement gold-layer data models serving multiple consumers (BI tools, applications, notebooks)
- Define and maintain KPI logic within a semantic / metrics layer with clear lineage
- Collaborate with finance and commercial stakeholders to align on KPI definitions
- Guide and coordinate a small team of analytics engineers
- Ensure high-quality delivery through:
- Version-controlled SQL transformations
- CI/CD practices
- Data quality checks and testing
- Produce clear documentation, including metric definitions and data lineage
- Establish delivery plans and ways of working for ongoing development
Required Experience
- Extensive experience in data-related roles, including analytics engineering or data engineering
- Proven experience leading a focused data or analytics delivery
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Databricks (Delta, SQL, workflows, Unity Catalog)
- SQL
- Python
- Solid understanding of:
- Dimensional modelling and semantic layers
- Medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold)
- Experience building tested, production-grade data pipelines with CI/CD
- Ability to work closely with business stakeholders and drive KPI definitions to completion
- Experience using AI-assisted development in a controlled, production-ready manner
Nice to Have
- Experience with SaaS or commercial KPIs (ARR, MRR, churn, gross margin)
- Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks
- Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools
- Background in finance or revenue data domains
- Experience building data products for AI / LLM-driven use cases
This is urgent, full-time, long-term assignment. Mostly remote, but some visits to client office in Helsinki area would be preferred. English language skills are enough.
