Join a data engineering engagement building out ETL pipelines on a modern Microsoft Fabric/Azure data platform, with a strong focus on payroll and HR-related data across multiple source systems.
Start
02.11.2026, ASAP
Duration
3 months
Location
Hybrid, Helsinki
Allocation
50 - 100%
In this role, you will:
Build and maintain ETL pipelines on the Azure/Microsoft Fabric data platform (final choice between Synapse and Fabric still being settled, though Fabric is the likely direction) using PySpark, SQL, Power BI, and Git.
Fetch payroll data from several separate, local payroll systems and combine it with HR master data, so the combined dataset can support a range of downstream HR use cases.
Work with data from several different payroll systems, with a strong ETL focus — integrations themselves are handled by a separate team, so this role is centered on the data engineering side.
Handle HR and salary data, which is sensitive by nature.
Apply modern data engineering practices, including regular (weekly) production deployments, rather than slower, less iterative release cycles.
You will thrive if:
You have solid, hands-on experience with modern data engineering on Azure/Fabric (or Synapse), including PySpark, SQL, Power BI and Git-based workflows.
You're comfortable working with ETL pipelines feeding from multiple source systems, including payroll-type systems.
You're used to working at a fast, modern cadence — weekly production deployments rather than occasional big-bang releases.
You can work responsibly with sensitive data (HR/salary) and are comfortable with the security considerations that come with it.
You're fluent in English; Finnish is a plus.
You're available to start in October/November, and can commit to at least 50% allocation (exact allocation still being finalized).
You're comfortable with a hybrid setup — about one day a week on-site in Helsinki.
