How AI Roots helped Lowell accelerate its cloud data platform transformation while building lasting internal capability
When Lowell began migrating its data to a new cloud platform in February 2025, the objective was clear: modernize the technology while building strong internal capabilities. The project began with moving data to a new cloud environment. Beyond the technical migration, a central focus was enabling Lowell’s internal teams to succeed in the new setup.
AI Roots delivered, Tommi Reinikainen to work hands-on with Lowell’s data engineers, combined with coaching and practical implementation. Through clear structures, documentation, and daily collaboration, he helped the team move from initial uncertainty to confidence in operating the new platform. As internal expertise strengthened, his role gradually decreased as was intended from the beginning.
Once the foundation was in place, AI Roots brought in another expert, Mikko Virtala, to design the reporting architecture and accelerate dashboard development. By defining a clear reporting structure and guiding developers in implementation, he shortened development cycles and improved focus. His structured and calm communication style helped align technical and business perspectives.

The most significant outcome has been the successful transfer of competence to Lowell’s internal team.
Today, Lowell’s data engineers confidently manage the cloud platform and data pipelines. The structured ways of working introduced during the project have become embedded in daily operations. External consultants were never meant to be a permanent solution — their role was to enable independence.
AI Roots’ support has positioned Lowell to continue developing its data platform and reporting capabilities autonomously, while maintaining access to targeted expertise when needed.
